The news was shocking yesterday out of California to hear of the death of Alan Thicke, a beloved TV Dad from the 1980’s who was a hockey fan and used his role as Dr. Jason Seaver to carry over long after Growing Pains ended.  However, what a lot of people didn’t know, is that he was musically talented.

Thicke penned dozens of TV theme songs, which is probably why his son Robin is so musically inclined.

In honor of Thicke, below are songs to play to honor his legacy:

As Long As We Got Each Other – B. J. Thomas & Jennifer Warnes (Growing Pains theme song)

It Takes Diff’rent Strokes – Diff’rent Strokes Theme Song

The Facts of Life Theme Song – Gloria Loring

Blurred Lines – Robin Thicke

Hockey Songs

Hockey Sock Rock – Phil Esposito and the Ranger Rockers

Please Forgive My Misconduct Last Night – Dionne and the Puck-tones

An interesting note that relates Thicke to the greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky is that Wayne and his wife Janet were babysitting Robin Thicke when the blockbuster trade sending Wayne to Los Angeles was finalized.

Other songs Thicke wrote include game show themes from The Wizard of Odds, The Joker’s Wild, Celebrity Sweepstakes, The Diamond Head Game, Animal Crack-Ups, Blank Check, Stumps!, Whew!, and the original theme to Wheel of Fortune.
