The talk of the 2015 World Police & Fire Games at Prince William Ice Center in Dale City, Va., hasn’t been about the play on the ice, but the style brought to the games by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Generals hockey team.

2015-06-29 11.37.31Normally, teams will adopt sweaters from a current or former NHL team and just change the logo to fit their own team.  The RCMPs however, went a few kilometres beyond that by creating a whole look from top to bottom to make the Red Serge look the RCMPs are most noted for.

The design was created by the wife of one of the team’s goalies, Kristy Classen, who also designed her husband’s face mask (Cris Classen played professionally for a bit in the states, you can see his stats on HockeyDB).

Kristy’s design incorporates many of the looks of the RCMP, without using logos and other accoutrements that require approval from a higher level.

While the sweater looks like the traditional ceremonial jacket that is worn for ceremonies such as the shoulder strap, belt, gold buttons which are all sublimated into the sweater.  The shells on the pants match the trousers worn by RCMP along with the gold stripe down the sides.

2015-06-28 10.07.26For the second day of the games, we were even able to get a little creative to match the whole theme the “mounties” were sporting, and created a mountie hat made out of pucks.  It was no where near the uniqueness in design that Kristy put into the uniforms.

Kristy’s company, Fancy Pants in Bienfait, Saskatchewan can be found on Facebook where she has many great fashions for women.

And we would be remiss if we didn’t somehow, figure out a way to mention Greg Wyshinski and Puck Daddy on Yahoo!  We know he’d be interested in seeing these fashions!
