The Buffalo Sabres are in the process of choosing their goal song for the 2015-2016 season, and you can help them out.  Through the team’s website, you can vote for the songs you think should move on to the next round of voting.  From the featured photo, you can see the current bracket entering the second round, and you can hear all of the selections (even the songs already eliminated) in the YouTube playlist below.

Ryan Burgess just went through a similar process of choosing the goal song for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.  As he was getting ready for the season, he chose “Spark” by Fitz & The Tantrums.  Burgess is the team’s P. A. announcer and music director, and the team plays in the shadows of their NHL namesake.

“It has a great chorus for fans to sing along with; plus the lyrics of the chorus are awesome,” Burgess said.  “‘Don’t they know the speaker is about to blow…don’t they know the building is about to blow,’ it’s very catchy.”

Though Burgess didn’t use an online poll, he got the idea from the Sabres’ AHL affiliate two hours away in Rochester.

The quarterfinals are running now through October 6, 2015 at 9 a.m.  The finals will start an hour later and run through noon on Thursday, October 8.  At the very least, you’ll have eight songs to add to your goal song arsenal for the upcoming season.
