There are thousands of first responders who’ve converged on Northern Virginia for the 2015 World Police & Fire Games.  All kinds of awesome sports and specializations for police and fire personnel from all over the world are happening over the course of just over a week.

The first day of the games featured a lot of cancellations, however ice hockey, the only “winter” sport in the WPFG started strong.  Now, here we are on the third day of competition, and the teams at the Prince William Ice Center in Dale City, Va. are starting to show how they’ll line up heading into the medal rounds which begin tomorrow.

So far, there have been a couple of good games, a couple of blow outs.  Some running clocks and a couple of discussions about overtime and “Game Winning Shots” in place of shootout.

We’ll be posting about some of the uniforms, namely those of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police later today.  They really are the sharpest uniforms of the tournament, if not ever!

Games are also happening locally at SkateQuest-Reston and the Ashburn Ice House.  Games are free to attend and a great way to support our first responders.
