Mike Markham is getting the call to go to the Summer Olympics in Rio, but for those who know him, it’s not in boxing, or volleyball, or baseball.  It’s in women’s basketball as the veteran international P. A. announcer will be calling games during the group stage.

Markham has been heard behind the microphone at many high-profile events in swimming and volleyball, was an announcer for the Charlotte Knights and travels the globe as one of the world’s premier boxing ring announcers.  Even with all of that, this fan of the Popeye’s fast-food chain is still able to give TED talks.  How he does it, we don’t know.
