On December 8, fans attending the Washington Capitals game at Verizon Center against the Detroit Red Wings didn’t know that they were going to have a celebrity, of sorts, announce the starting line-up for the visiting team that night.
The Capitals P. A. announcer, Wes Johnson, is a master of voices. He’s been heard in some pretty popular video games in recent years, in commercials, and has appeared in HBO’s Veep along with several movies. He’s a busy man. And a man of many voices has to give the great William Shatner a try. That he did on this night.
Johnson even has a YouTube video entitled “The William Shatner School of Broadcasting” which is a fun video to watch.
Thanks to Monumental Network for capturing the video to share with the world. They were so quick to the trigger, that fans that missed it could view it by the end of the first period! It received rave reviews on social media and got several mentions throughout the Caps blogosphere.
